Federal Lifeline Program for Internet and Phone Services
Members of RURALBAND may be eligible to receive a discount of up to $9.25 for telephone, internet, or bundled service.
Lifeline is the Federal Communications Commission’s program to help make communications services more affordable for low-income consumers. Lifeline provides eligible subscribers a discount on monthly telephone, broadband, or bundled telephone and broadband service purchased from participating providers in the marketplace.
To be eligible for the program, a consumer must provide documents showing:
The consumer’s household income is at or below 135 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines; or
The consumer, another person in the consumer’s household, or the consumer’s overall household receives benefits from at least one of the following federal assistance programs:
- Medicaid
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
- Supplemental Security Income
- Federal Public Housing Assistance
- Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit
